SHILLONG, Jan 28: Buying a vehicle is an auspicious moment in people’s life, but to give it a distinct identity with a fancy number plate is another luxury, which is now going to be heavier on people’s pockets as the Meghalaya Cabinet has decided to increase booking rates of fancy numbers.
This was informed by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, who also expressed optimism over the state’s revenue seeing an incline following the move.
Tynsong said that through this decision, the collection of revenue is anticipated to increase no less than Rs 7 crore annually.
Revealing details, the minister informed that the rate for fancy number ML 0001 has been enhanced from Rs 30,000 to a whopping Rs 1 lakh, while the rate for number 0002 has been revised from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000.
For fancy number 0003, the Cabinet has decided to increase the rate from Rs 30,000 to Rs 50,000; the number 0007 will now cost Rs 70,000, which is Rs 40000 dearer than the earlier rate, Rymbui added.
Numbers 0009 will cost Rs 50,000 (earlier Rs 30,000); 0786 at 70,000 from Rs 20,000; and Rs 50,000 for 1111, which cost Rs 15,000 before.
