One held for illegal possession of drugs

TURA, Jan 31: Police in West Garo Hills have arrested one person for illegal possession and transport of contraband psychotropic substances worth Rs 3.5 lakh.
According to sources, personnel from the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) carried out an operation after getting inputs about the illegal activity and arrested one, Sajidur Islam, a resident of Shyamding, Phulbari, and recovered the contraband.
The team was headed by SDPO Dadenggre and assisted by a team from Phulbari Police Station.
During the raid, a total of 1,794 strips of Tramadol totalling 14,352 tablets, were recovered from his possession.
Police informed that all legal formalities have been observed and a case under appropriate sections of NDPS Act registered. Investigation has also begun and effort is on to nab the main kingpin.
Police estimate that the wholesale price of the seized drugs would be around 3.5 lakhs.
