Electoral rolls for GHADC elections

TURA, Feb 4: The Returning Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura has informed that the Draft Publication of Electoral Rolls has been prepared in accordance with the Assam Meghalaya Autonomous Districts (Constitution of District Councils Rules, 1951) for GHADC constituencies in the district, a copy of which is available for inspection at the office of the Deputy Commissioner and at each polling station during office hours.
These constituencies include 6-Barengapara, 7-Babelapara, 8-Amongpara, 9-Tura, 10-Dengnakpara, 15-Rochonpara, 16-Asanang, 17- Balachanda, 18-Batabari, 19-Shyamnagar, 20-Raksamgre, 21-Naguapara and 22-Jengjal.
The qualifying date for the preparation of the electoral roll as per Rule 128 (4)(b)) is January 1, 2021.
If, with reference to the above said qualifying date, there be any claim for the inclusion of a name in the electoral roll or any objections to the inclusion of names or any objections to particulars in any entries, it should be lodged between the period February 4-18 in form 6, 6A, 7, 8 and 8A, as may be appropriate, the notification added.
As per the notification, every such claim or objection should either be presented in the Deputy Commissioner (Election) office not later than the aforesaid date or to the Booth Level Officer in your respective polling station or sent by post to the office address so as to reach the office not later than the aforesaid date.
The constituencies have also been provided with the previous approval of the Election Commission, the list of polling stations specified in the apprehended list for the polling areas or group of voters noted against each constituency. As per the list, there are 408 numbers of polling stations with 3,50,512 electors for the 13 GHADC constituencies under West Garo Hills.
The GHADC elections are slated for April 9.
