SGH bridge construction yet to start
TURA, Feb 4: A South Garo Hills-based social activist has expressed disappointment over the failure of the concerned authorities to reconstruct the Rompa Bridge, which had collapsed a few years back during mid-construction.
It may be recalled that villagers of 13 villages under Baghmara C&RD Block had started the construction of the said bridge in 2018 by sacrificing their wages from MGNREA. Sadly, halfway through its construction, the bridge gave way during heavy rains overnight. The activist, Greneth M Sangma, on Thursday said that despite the assurance authorities concerned, preparation for re-estimate is yet to take place.“The steering committee has already approached the authorities but no action has been taken till date. We condemn this lacklustre attitude,” Sangma said.
