Excise raid
The Excise department, in continuation with its drive against illicit liquor, had conducted raids in restaurants/stalls in Shillong and its outskirts in December 2020 during which 60.500 litre of illicitly distilled liquor and 38.970 litre of Indian-made foreign liquor were seized. According to a statement, 29 persons were arrested in this connection.

Derecognition
The Chief Inspector of Boilers and Factories, Meghalaya, has informed that M/s Shree Sai Smelters Pvt. Ltd Unit-II — a factory located at 15th Mile, Byrnihat — has been derecognised and its name has been deleted from the list of registered factories in Meghalaya.

Electoral roll
The draft electoral roll for 11-Boldamgre, 12-Nogorpara, 13-Zikzak and 14-Betasing GHADC constituencies under South West Garo Hills has been prepared. Informing this, South West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Election) has said that the same will be available for inspection at his office during office hours.

Literacy week
Meghalaya Chief Secretary MS Rao will inaugurate the financial literacy week via video conferencing on February 8. According to a statement issued on Friday, the curtain on the financial literacy week will come down on February 12.
