DC prohibits dumping garbage in SWKH locality

MAWKYRWAT, Feb 17: South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner Cara Kharkongor has promulgated Section 144 CrPC prohibiting loitering and dumping of garbage such as plastics in and around Mawpon area near Mawkyrwat.
The order comes after reports were received about people brazenly dumping garbage in Mawpon area near the permanent campus of the District Court, Mawkyrwat, as well as around the road to Sakwang village. The DC pointed out that this practice will not only deteriorate the aesthetic appeal of the area but will also pose as a health hazard to the people.
The DC added that brazenly throwing garbage violates Environmental Acts & Waste Management Rules, Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016 and Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.
