SHILLONG, Feb 18: The National People’s Party (NPP) is confident of an absolute majority in the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC).
“We are looking to get more than the absolute majority. I am confident that the party would sweep the forthcoming GHADC elections,” NPP state president and Rajya Sabha member WR Kharlukhi said today.
Asked whether the allegations of corruption in the GHADC will work in favour of the Congress and against NPP, Kharlukhi said, “It is very easy to say there is corruption. But it needs to be substantiated with facts and I don’t think any other party can benefit from this issue.”
On the anti-incumbency factor, the NPP state president said, “As per the trend, the party which is in power always wins the majority of seats.”
