Kakwagre becomes first village in EGH to receive water supply scheme

TURA, Feb 18: East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Swapnil Tembe, on Thursday handed over the Kakwagre Water Supply Scheme to the Village Water and Sanitation Committee (VWSC), Kakwagre village, at a function organized by the PHE Department. As per officials, Kakwagre is the first village in the district to receive the water supply scheme, which has been sanctioned under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
Addressing the gathering, Tembe, who is also the chairman of DWSM, beseeched the villagers to ensure sustainability of the source of water, protection of catchment area and collection of water tariff for the operation and maintenance of the scheme.
Member Secretary of DWSM, Sujit P Marak, on the other hand, highlighted the roles and responsibilities of the villagers.
