“We wish him the best in his efforts to strengthen and promote the good work of the party in the state of Meghalaya,” he added.
The NPP spokesperson also informed that the election for the same which was slated for March 3 has been cancelled.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the NPP State president said, “I am happy that the party has again put their confidence in me and I will try my level best not to let my party members down,” said Kharlukhi who is also a Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha. The NPP leader also said that a leader is nothing without his team and sought their cooperation to propel the party further into new realms of success. “It is the hard work of all our party members that makes us count and together, we can attain new heights,” he added.
It may be mentioned that Kharlukhi who is the main strategist of the NPP was first elected as the State Party president in 2013 and after the completion of his tenure he was again re-elected in 2016.
The next election for the State party president which was scheduled to be held again in 2019 was delayed due to COVID-19 and was slated for March 3, but since there was no nomination for the post, he was yet again re-elected.
It was during his tenure as the State president that the NPP rose to power in 2018.
