NEW DELHI, Feb 28: In a major setback to Opposition Congress on the eve of impending by-election in Mawryngkneng Assembly seat, the Block President of Mawkynrew, Olet Kharsahnoh, has resigned from his post.
“I have the honour to inform you that with deep faith and responsibility towards development of my people in 29- Mawkynrew A/c, I take this untimely and unexpected step,” Olet said. “Looking forward your esteemed approval to my humble request,” he said in the resignation letter to the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee.
In Meghalaya, Congress is passing from one crisis to another with many of its senior leaders including even legislators having resigned from the party and joined the ruling MDA coalition led by the National People’s Party (NPP). Some others are also sitting on fences and looking to the fate of the party in the state and rest of the country.
