Awareness prog on substance abuse held

SHILLONG, March 1: The Bosco Integrated Development Society (BIDS) had recently organised a one-day awareness programme on drugs and substance abuse prevention and effects of early marriage for schoolchildren at Lapalang community hall, Shillong.
Programme Manager of Manbha Foundation, Neil Khongwir, who was the resource person, stressed upon the ill-effects of drug and other substance abuse.
Ibalari Synrem, Centre Coordinator of Childline Shillong, educated the children on POCSO Act. She also advised the gathering to spread the word on the Act.
Later during the programme, football and badminton tournaments were also organised.
Altogether, 46 children and youths, headman of Lapalang, BIDS team, among others, attended the programme.
