MLA for speedy implementation of building bye-laws in Cantt areas

SHILLONG, March 4: South Shillong MLA, Sanbor Shullai, on Thursday called on Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, urging him to implement building bye-laws in Shillong Cantonment area at par with adjoining areas under municipal jurisdiction at the earliest.
Shullai apprised the Union minister of the grievances of the residents of Shillong Cantonment area.
In a memorandum to Singh, Shullai, besides the request for immediate implementation of the bye-laws, also sought funds for PHE water tank, upgrade of Goenka Hospital and Shillong Cantonment School.
The MLA, in a bid to ease traffic congestion in the city, also petitioned the defence minister for an NOC to construct various roads in Shillong which passes through defence areas.
The Union Minister not only assured of looking into the requests but also applauded the MLA for addressing public grievances.
