TURA, Mar 4: Alleging anomalies in the modus operandi of recruiting candidates, the Federation of Khasi-Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP) has urged the chief minister to put on hold the recently declared results by the District Selection Committee (DSC) for various posts and also sought his intervention into the matter.
Earlier, the FKJGP had sought a halt on the appointment process of the general category only after anomalies were detected with regard to the selection. However, it claimed on Thursday that more anomalies have been revealed in other categories as well.
According to a statement from the FKJGP, the DSC Service Rules were violated in the recent declaration of the results where the number of selected candidates had exceeded the number of vacant posts.
While the number of vacant posts was 51 for LDA and 34 for grade IV, a total of 110 candidates for LDA and 100 candidates for Grade IV were selected.
With regard to the selection of candidates in the general category, the Federation alleged that the State Job Reservation Policy has been violated as only the non-tribal candidates were selected with not a single Garo candidate making to the list.
According to the Federation, notwithstanding the assurance being given to rectify the anomaly during their meeting with the Chairman and the Member Secretary on February 22, select appointments to the posts of Grade IV were allegedly discreetly approved and the appointments have not been reversed till date.
Asserting that the allegations need to be backed by concrete evidence, the Federation urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to initiate an inquiry into the matter at the earliest while also seeking a stay on all the appointment processes.
