House gutted
A house at Umskun village in Ri Bhoi was gutted in fire on Tuesday evening albeit no one was injured in the incident. Meanwhile, village leaders have appealed to one and all to contribute to the affecte family.

Workshop
The State Tobacco Control Cell, National Health Mission, in collaboration with the Voluntary Health Association of Meghalaya, will organise a state-level workshop on WHO FCTC Article 5.3 for state government officials on March 16 at the Conference Hall of Raitong Building from 10:30 am. According to a statement, the workshop will be held in a bid to facilitate the efforts towards implementing the Tobacco Act in Meghalaya.

I-Day exhibition
The Regional Outreach Bureau, an attached office under Union Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, will hold a five-day exhibition on the theme ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’, to celebrate 75 years of India’s Independence. According to a statement, the exhibition will commence from March 12 at Meghalaya State Convention Centre, Shillong. Governor Satya Pal Malik will inaugurate the exhibition.
Meanwhile, the state Arts and Culture department will organise the ‘Azadi Amrut Mahotsav Freedom India at 7 Years Concert’ at Raj Bhavan Durbar Hall at 6 pm on Friday.

Eye check-up
As part of the car rally on ‘Safe Driving Habits’ scheduled for March 13 at Khliehriat Higher Secondary School campus, the District Legal Services Authority, Khliehriat, will also organise a free eye check-up for drivers on the same day.

Unclaimed body
A person identified as Ganesh Survansi (52) was declared brought dead at Shillong Civil Hospital on March 2. According to a statement, inquest was observed and the body was sent for autopsy. The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for claim. The complexion of Survansi is swarthy and built is thin. For identification process, the public has been urged to contact 2222214 or 2222215.
