Kingsmen, Labet A emerge triumphant in Meghalaya 3×3

SHILLONG, March 13: Competition favourites Kingsmen emerged triumphant in the men’s final of the Shillong edition of the Meghalaya 3×3 Challenge while Shillong Labet A were adjudged winners in the women’s category.
The competition, held at St. Anthony’s Higher Secondary School on Saturday, was preceded by two other tournaments in Jowai and Nongstoin. The knockout competition was organised by Touchline Northeast in collaboration with Meghalaya AIDS Control Society and featured a total of 24 men and women’s teams.
In the women’s final, crowd favourites Shillong Labet A overcame their younger Shillong Labet D side to claim the winning trophy while Kingsmen, who have found themselves in the last two finals of the Northeast 3×3 Challenge, defeated Salesian Youth Movement A in their final game.
The objective of the tournament was to create awareness on HIV/AIDS, promote testing, creating a BCC towards HIV through sports and promoting sporting activities in the state.
Nongpoh in Ri-Bhoi district will soon play host to the last competition of the 2021 Meghalaya 3×3 Challenge.
Touchline Northeast, an affiliated academy of the Meghalaya Basketball Association, also holds the annual Northeast 3×3 Challenge that witnesses participation of teams and players from across the coutnry.
