The Office of the East Khasi Hills DC in collaboration with the office of the Divisional Social and Water Conservation Officer, Shillong (Territorial) Division, will hold a programme at Aurobindo Institute of Indian Culture to mark World Water Day on Monday.
Plastic ban
The West Jaintia Hills District Magistrate has prohibited the use of plastic bags with thickness less than 50 microns. According to the directive, persons, shopkeepers, vendors, wholesalers, retailers, traders, hawkers or salesmen shall use plastic carry bags with less than 50 microns.
