SHILLONG, March 21: The Lokayukta has directed the District School Education Officer (DSEO) of West Garo Hills to file an FIR against the alleged misuse and misappropriation of funds received from the government for payment of salary to the employees of Garodubi Higher Secondary School.
After examining a preliminary report, the director of the Lokayukta’s Inquiry Wing concluded that a case exists against the incumbent principal-cum-secretary of the school, IH Choudhury.
The report insisted that a case should be registered with the local police station and an FIR filed by the Education department so as to get to the bottom of the case.
It added that the principal of the school has committed criminal breach of trust, misappropriation and cheating by misusing fund for his own personal benefits.
After considering the report, the Lokayukta directed the West Garo Hills DSEO to lodge an FIR at the local PS.
The Tura Superintendent of Police has also been directed to monitor the criminal prosecution and submit a status report within 15 days.
