SCL C Division: YALM, XEBEC emerge winners

SHILLONG, March 21: YALM defeated Municipality by 4 wickets while XEBEC were able to clinch a narrow 9 run win over Raj Bhawan in their respective Shillong Cricket League C Division matches here on Sunday. In the first match of the day, YALM won the toss and fielded first, restricting Municipality to a modest 106 all out in 18.5 overs. Kunal Goswami (34) was the top scorer while Prashanta Borah’s (14) contribution helped Municipality get past the 100-run mark. Man of the Match Hamid Sohtun took 3/11 while Zaheer Ali claimed 2/20. YALM reached 109/6 but not before losing wickets. Abhay Roy scored 31 to steady the ship and see his side to a win. Pranjal and Chotelal Gupta took 2 wickets apiece.
In the second match of the day, Raj Bhawan won the toss and elected to field first as they held XEBEC to 123/7 in the stipulated 20 overs. Abhishek Shah (27) and Rohit Kumar Yadav (24) were the top scorers for XEBEC. Defending a fairly low total, XEBEC were able to restrict Raj Bhawan to 114/8 to win the match by 9 runs. Man of the Match Laxman Gurung claimed figures of 2/11 while teammate Pynkyo also took 2 wickets.
