SCL: Riatsamthiah scrape past Spartans in Super Division

SHILLONG, Match 24: A tight bowling performance helped Riatsamthiah to a narrow 20 run victory over Sputnik Spartans in a Shillong Cricket League Super Division match here on Wednesday. Riatsamthiah chose to bat first after winning the toss and were bowled out for 193 in 31.5 overs. Man of the Match Shaisngi Lyngdoh top scored with 42 runs while Andrew Ropmay added a valuable 38 runs that came off 22 balls. For the Spartans, Amit Paul was the pick of the bowlers scalping 4/22 in his 7 overs. In reply, Sputnik Spartans could only manage 173 before getting all out in 33 overs. Uttam Chanda led his side’s scoreboard with 32 runs while teammate Prashant Ojha added a patient 31 runs. Adarsh Joshi took 3/18 in 4 overs for Riatsamthiah while Anish Charak took 2/21 in 7 overs.
C Division at St. Anthony’s HSS Ground
Free Soul Brothers were able to snatch a close 9 run win over XEBEC in their Shillong Cricket League C Division match here on Wednesday. XEBEC put their opponents in to bat first after winning the toss, restricting them to 129/4 in 20 overs. Man of the Match Vishal (41) and Sandeep (25) were the top scorers for the Soul Brothers. Pynkupar took 2/16 for XEBEC. In reply, XEBEC were left stranded at 120/6 by the end of the allotted 20 overs.
In the second C Division match of the day, Innings Star claimed a 3 wicket victory against SOS. Earlier, SOS won the toss and chose to bat first as they were bowled out for 99 runs in 19.4 overs thanks to a hat-trick by Man of the Match Charm who returned with figures of 3/20. Skembkr was SOS’ top scorer with 25. Chasing 100 to win, Innings Star reached the target losing 7 wickets in 17.5 overs. Amit (21) and Rakesh (20) were the highest scorers for their team. Rupam Das bowled well to return figures of 4/21.
