Shillongites to be feted for 1971 war efforts

SHILLONG, March 29: Bangladesh government is going to commemorate the 50th year of country’s liberation here on Tuesday by recognising the services rendered by some Shillongites in 1971.
A formal function will be held at the Asian Confluence building where the Assistant High Commissioner will hand over mementos to many of them posthumously.
Bangladesh celebrates December 16 as Victory Day to commemorate the victory of the Bangladesh forces over Pakistan in the Bangladesh Liberation War in 1971.
