SHILLONG, March 30: Home Minister Lahkmen Rymbui was on Tuesday caught unaware about the alleged harassment of non-tribal vendors of Ichamati.
“The information has not come to me and I don’t want to comment on anything that I have no knowledge of,” the home minister said.
The Coordination and Welfare Committee of Shella, Bholaganj (CWC-SB) and adjoining areas had recently alleged that renewed harassment was being meted out to non-tribal people of the area and vendors, who were selling their produce after taking due permission from the headmen of Ichamati village.
Moreover, East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner, Isawanda Laloo, is also mum on the issue and has not replied to the query on the action initiated to restore a sense of security among the populace.
