Kiwis pip Aussie eves

Napier, March 30: An all-round display by Frances Mackay led New Zealand women to a four-wicket win over Australia in the second T20I on Tuesday at McLean Park. New Zealand have thus levelled the three-match series 1-1.
Mackay first recorded figures of 2/20 to help New Zealand restrict Australia to 129/4. Australia opener Beth Mooney was unbeaten on 61 with Ellyse Perry at the other end but Australia struggled to score runs for much of the innings.
In reply, Mackay, who opened the batting, was the highest scorer for the hosts with 46 runs but New Zealand struggled to reach the target. The equation came down to the hosts needing nine runs to win off the last over and Maddy Green started it off with a four off the very first ball.
However, Nicola Carey then gave just two more runs in the next four balls, leaving NZ needing three to win off the last ball. Carey managed to get the ball to the fine leg boundary and the hosts took the match. (IANS)
