SHILLONG, April 3: A Special Investigation Team (SIT) is probing all angles in the Golf Links assault case, which led to the death of a youth from Wahkaji village recently.
“We are working on the case to nab the culprits. We are hopeful to make a breakthrough,” a senior police official said.
Earlier, East Khasi Hills superintendent of police Sylvester Nongtnger had said the SIT had been asked to complete the investigation at the earliest.
The SP also said that the evidence available was being examined carefully to aid investigation.
Earlier, state home minister Lahkmen Rymbui had said he was confident that the SIT will be able to identify and arrest the culprits involved in the case.
Pherlangroi Myrthong, 20, succumbed to his injuries at the NEIGRIHMS a week after he was assaulted on March 21.
