SHILLONG, April 6: Bringing to light startling revelations, Khun Hynniewtrep National Awakening Movement MLA Adelbert Nongrum has alleged that the ruling NPP is indulging in rampant corruption with regard to implementation of Saubhaya Scheme.
In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Nongrum revealed that as per the information available with him, the price of cement under the Saubhagya Scheme is Rs 837.40 while price of one computer set supplied by Satnam Global Infraprojects Limited is Rs 3,36,000. He added that the market rate of a printer is Rs 18,000 while the printer provided by the company costs Rs 1,19,000.
Informing that the price of 25 KV transformer of the MeECL is Rs 45,800, the legislator said that the company is charging Rs 1,06,000 for the transformer.
At the same time, the MLA said that the price of the 65 KV transformer of the MeECL is Rs 88,800 while the price during supply from the company is Rs 1,88,000.
“This is only the tip of the iceberg. It is really unfortunate that the NPP which is leading the MDA Government is looting the people of the state,” the KHNAM legislator stated.
Pointing out that the problem in the power sector is present for many years, Nongrum said that the present dispensation should have taken steps to solve the problem instead of pointing fingers at the previous government.
“This clearly reflects that the MDA Government is anti-people,” Nongrum asserted.
He further said that power minister and present CMD of MeECL should be removed immediately for the sake of reviving the power sector. “We cannot allow these two to remain in the helms of affairs if we are to save the state,” he added.
