World Homoeopathy Day observed in three districts

SHILLONG/NONGSTOIN/NONGPOH, April 10: Joining the worldwide celebrations to commemorate the 266th birthday of Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann, the founder of homoeopathy medicine, the World Homoeopathy Day was celebrated in Shillong, Nongstoin and Nongpoh.
In Shillong, the North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homeopathy (NEIAH) observed the day on Saturday on its campus at Mawdiangdiang, Shillong.
According to a statement, the programme was attended by Prof. Samir Kumar Bhattacharya, former director of National Institute of Homeopathy.
Bhattacharya, during the programme, spoke about the importance of Dr Samuel Hahnemann as a chemist.
Others who spoke during the programme include Assistant Professor, Govt Ayurvedic College, Dr Pradyumna Goswami, who attended the programme as the chief guest.
In Nongstoin, the office of the DM&HO, in collaboration with the Ayush Mission under the Ministry of AYUSH, observed the day at Bishop hall Tiehsaw, Nongstoin, where the Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa attended the programme as chief guest.
In his address, the DC spoke about the benefits of homoeopathy and called upon doctors to spread the message and encourage people to come forward for homeopathic treatment which is cheaper, effective and has no side effects. Other highlights of the day included distribution of memento and cutting of cake.
Meanwhile, in Nongpoh, the day was observed at St.Paul’s Parish Hall where Nongpoh MLA, Mayralborn Syiem, graced the occasion as the chief guest in the presence of Additional Deputy Commissioner M Tongper, DM&HO, Nongpoh, Dr M Mawrie, District Nodal Officer (AYUSH) Dr H Lanong, among others. Syiem, during the programme, expressed his gratitude to the Health department for its efforts during the fight against COVID-19 and also advised them to raise awareness on the importance of vaccination.
