Motivate people to register with MHIS: Hek to health officials
SHILLONG, April 14: Health Minister AL Hek on Wednesday appealed to the health officials to intensify awareness campaigns on health issues and motivate people to register themselves with the Megha Health Insurance Scheme (MHIS) and avail the financial benefit provided under the scheme. Hek made this appeal during a one-day sensitisation workshop to commemorate the third anniversary of Ayushman Bharat Programme. According to a statement, the workshop was organised by the State National Health Mission for state and district nodal officers at Moreau Institute of Integral Training (MIIT), Shillong. The health minister, who attended the workshop as the chief guest, applauded the frontline workers and dwelt on the importance and the importance of preventive and promotive healthcare through the Health and Wellness Centers in various parts of Meghalaya. Later, Hek released a coffee table book which captures the journey of Ayushman Bharat —Health and Wellness Centers in Meghalaya since 2018, and felicitated the best-performing Health and Wellness teams under various categories. Award for the best-performing CPHC district was also conferred upon West Garo Hills.
Conference for ASHAs in WKH
NONGSTOIN, April 14: In a bid to raise awareness among ASHA workers on health facilities provided by the Health department, a one-day conference was organised on Wednesday at Shallang PHC, West Khasi Hills. According to a statement, the conference was attended by around 60 ASHAs from Mawshynrut Block, a team of medical doctors, West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner T Lyngwa, among others. In his address, Lyngwa lauded the hard work of the ASHAs and exhorted them to spread the message about various health facilities provided by the government. He also accentuated the need to disseminate awareness among the general public in order to allay their apprehensions over COVID-19 vaccines.
Tynsong lays base for poultry farm
SHILLONG, April 14: Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong, on Tuesday, laid the foundation stone for establishment of a poultry farm under the National Livestock Mission (NLM) at a function in Mawryngkneng, East Khasi Hills. This poultry farm will be turned into a farming hub, which will cater to the needs of the whole of East Khasi Hills. Informing this during the programme, the deputy chief minister emphasised on the need to have sustainable development and self-sufficiency. He also stated that the Poultry Mission will soon be implemented in Meghalaya.
