SHILLONG, May 1: A day after Chief Minister Conrad Sangma revealed that Meghalaya needs over Rs 90 crore to procure vaccine doses for all citizens of the state above 18 years, Opposition Chief Whip PT Sawkmie has asked the state government to request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to provide free vaccines to all states.
“Since the Union Finance Minister had announced Rs 15,000 crore to all states as assistance for fighting COVID-19 without interest and repayment in 50 years, the state government should request the Prime Minister to provide free vaccines to the state,” Sawkmie added.
