TURA, May 18: The Fruit and Vegetable market of the Tura Super market including the vegetable hawkers’ zone in and around the vicinity were on Tuesday closed down by the West Garo Hills District Administration after it was observed that people including shopkeepers and hawkers were violating the social distancing norms and Covid-19 protocols issued earlier.

According to the order issued in this regard by West Garo Hills Deputy commissioner Ram Singh, the closure has been ordered to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and the same comes into force with immediate effect until further orders. The order also prohibited hawkers from selling their wares in the vicinity.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Tura Municipal Board (TMB) has been directed to regulate on the matter in coordination with the Market Committee and facilitate shops to be shifted to other locations of Tura town.
