LONDON, May 18: If Harry Kane does want to leave Tottenham, he hasn’t told his manager.
Sky Sports, one of the Premier League’s major rights holders, reported Monday that Kane has asked to be sold after becoming unhappy with the lack of progress at the club.
That’s news to interim Tottenham manager Ryan Mason.
Asked whether the England captain has asked to leave, Mason said on Tuesday: “No, not that I’m aware of.”
“All of my conversations with Harry have been about the game,” added Mason, speaking ahead of Tottenham’s league match against Aston Villa. “All these conversations, I am not so sure. I don’t know.”
Mason said Kane will start against Villa on Wednesday in a game being played in front of 10,000 Tottenham fans.
“He starts tomorrow because he is our best striker and he is one of the best strikers in the world,” Mason said.
“I have been consistent, I am here for the next two games and that is my main focus in preparing a football team and winning a game of football. Hopefully we can do that and Harry can get on the scoresheet.”
The 27-year-old Kane has a contract with Tottenham that extends until 2024. However, he has yet to win a trophy with the club. (AP)
