B’desh extends ban on travel with India

NEW DELHI, May 31: Owing to the COVID-19 situation in India, Bangladesh has decided to extend the ban on public travel through its land ports till June 14.
Due to the COVID-19 cases in India, Bangladesh’s land border has been closed since April 26.
Albeit Bangladesh had earlier decided to reopen the borders with India by May 31 but with cases still on the rise, the ban was extended.
Although the land ports have been shut, stranded Bangladeshis have been allowed to return from four other land ports, viz. Benapole, Agartala, Hili and Burimari.
