Dorbar clarifies on ambulance bust in Ri Bhoi, blames driver
NONGPOH, May 31: After an ambulance was apprehended while transporting IMFL in Ri Bhoi, the Dorbar Shnong of Umran Niangbyrnai on Monday clarified that the village leaders did not send the ambulance to conduct such illegal activities. “It is very sad, unfortunate and shocking to learn the next day that our ambulance was caught by Byrnihat Police for transporting liquors. The village never sent the drivers to do such illegal things. We have been fooled by the driver,” Umrang Niangbyrnai headman Stephan Kharbani said. Kharbani also informed that the driver, Jefferson Nongbsap, had requested for the ambulance from the village leaders on the pretext of ferrying his uncle to Shillong for medical attention. However, the ambulance had been caught at Byrnihat Police Outpost transporting liquor. The headman blames the driver for taking advantage. The Dorbar Shnong had tendered an apology, especially to NEEPCO, which had donated the ambulance for the welfare of the people of the village and its adjoining areas.
