TURA, June 5: In order to help the needy during this time of pandemic, a non-governmental organisation, viz. Voluntary Association for Social Upliftment (VASU), on Saturday distributed rations to 300 families in several villages in South West Garo Hills including Ghasura, Purasingha, Kumligaon, Samatigaon, Murikhati, Morkona and Mahendraganj.
Besides ration, the organisation also distributed other essential items such as sanitary napkins, soap, zinc tablets etc.
“It is important to understand the misery of the communities living in these remote areas. Hence, it was a call to action for us to improve their situation. We have worked in South West Garo Hills even during the peak of militant activities,” members of VASU said.
