SHILLONG, June 5: Health Minister AL Hek has suggested people to plant trees on their birthday and wedding anniversary celebrations and maintained that this is the best way of marking their special days.
Speaking to the reporters after a plantation drive, organised as part of the World Environment Day celebrations, at Golf Links on Saturday, the health minister said that COVID-19 pandemic has made people realise the need to safeguard the environment.
“We have witnessed how our rivers have become cleaner, how our mother earth had rejuvenated during the lockdown last year. The lockdown has allowed the environment to renew itself,” Hek said.
