SHILLONG, June 6: The Meghalaya Government will now allow citizens in the age group of 18-44 years to book vaccine slots on the spot.
An official from the Health department informed that on the spot vaccination for the 18-44 group will begin tentatively from June 11 in selected centres.
Spot booking of slots will continue till the existing stock of vaccine lasts.
The state is set to receive 66,000 doses of Covid vaccines for the 18-44 group in the next few days. An advance payment has already been made for the doses.
Recoveries continue to surpass cases
The active tally of COVID-19 cases further declined in the state on Sunday as recoveries continue to surpass fresh cases. There were 488 fresh cases as against 690 recoveries.
The active tally now stands at 5,583 while the total number of recoveries has gone up to 32,471.
The death toll, however, continues to climb and now stands at 664. 12 fatalities were recorded in the last 24 hours, of which 11 were reported from East Khasi Hills and one from West Jaintia Hills. The case fatality stands at 1.71%.
Out of the 488 fresh cases, 235 were reported in East Khasi Hills, 82 in West Garo Hills, 49 in West Jaintia Hills, 44 in South West Garo Hills, 23 in East Jaintia Hills, 16 in North Garo Hills, 10 in East Garo Hills, nine in West Khasi Hills, eight in South West Khasi Hills, seven in South Garo Hills and five in Ri Bhoi.
360 recoveries were reported in East Khasi Hills, 85 in West Jaintia Hills, 64 in South West Khasi Hills, 56 in West Garo Hills, 35 in South West Garo Hills, 25 in Ri Bhoi, 21 in West Khasi Hills, 18 in North Garo Hills, 15 in East Garo Hills, six in East Jaintia Hills and five in South Garo Hills.
The state has conducted 5,99,057 tests so far of which 5,60,339 reports are negative.
Out of the 5,583 Covid patients, 1000 are in institutional quarantine while 4,583 are in institutional quarantine.
