MAWKYRWAT, June 9: The Khasi Student’s Union (KSU) South West Khasi Hills District unit has donated rations to around 170 families in the district and also assisted villages in Mawsynram Block even as it donated PEE kits to four villages under Mawkyrwat Block, all in a span of a week.
Informing this on Wednesday, president of the KSU South West Khasi Hills District unit, Forwardman Nongrem, said that KSU Lawbah Border Area Circle had distributed rations to 14 families at Syntein and Mawkaphan villages, adding that 50 families from different villages along the Indo-Bangla border areas have received rations from KSU Balat Border Area Circle.
Moreover, 30 families received aid from the KSU Rangthong unit, 19 families from KSU Phlangmawprah unit, 25 from KSU Awro unit, 20 from the KSU Myriem unit and 12 from KSU Ngundilang unit.
KSU Mawkyrwat Circle and KSU South West Khasi Hills District have also donated PPE kits to four villages — Mawlangwir, Mawten, Jashiar and Nonglang — in their initiative to help them fight against COVID-19.
KSU leader Nongrem has expressed gratitude to the union’s units across the district for contributing to the help the poor amid these trying times.
He called upon the urged upon the public representatives as well as individuals to come forward in helping those that have been severely hit by the pandemic.
When asked, the KSU leader informed that during the lockdown in 2020, the Union donated rations to more than 750 families in South West Khasi Hills as well as Mawsynram Block.
