Marwein passed away on Thursday at the age of 72.
“A man of grit and determination, Bah Marwein was one of the pioneers in publication of newspapers in Meghalaya. He published the first Khasi daily Mawphor in 1989 and later published the English daily Highland Post in 2013. He was also the first Khasi to publish Garo weekly Kosi Songbad in 2021. Bah Marwein is also the first Khasi entrepreneur to set up a printing press equipped with the latest technology,” MEPA said in a statement issued here.
Former member of the association, Marwein contributed to the organisation in many ways.
“Besides, he was a philanthropist who has done a lot for the welfare of the society. The demise of Bah Marwein is a great loss to the media fraternity in our state,” the MEPA said.
