Financial assistance for vulnerable section under South Shillong
SHILLONG, June 17: The vulnerable section of people, who are residents of South Shillong Constituency, has been asked to come forward for availing financial assistance being provided by MLA Sanbor Shullai, a statement issued here informed. Taxi and other commercial vehicle drivers, teer counter employees, differently-abled persons, daily wage earners working in various shops, domestic workers, hawkers, street vendors, ASHA and Aganwadi workers etc, can contact the office of their respective Dorbar Shnong, chairman and secretary of the local Community COVID-19 Management Team (CCMT) or members of the COVID relief committee staff working at the residential office of the MLA, it said. The last date for registration is June 19. Also, employees of Shillong Cantonment and Shillong municipal area involved in the management of the bodies of COVID victims are eligible to apply for the assistance.

HC conducts three-day vax drive
SHILLONG, June 17: The High Court of Meghalaya under the initiative of Chief Justice Biswanath Somadder and in collaboration with the Health department conducted a vaccination drive for its officers, staff, lawyers of the Court, Meghalaya State Judicial Academy, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, including their family members, on the court premises on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The Chief Justice has expressed desire to extend all help/awareness and assist the needy to get them vaccinated.

Webinar on need to donate blood
SHILLONG, June 17: In commemoration of the month-long celebration of World Blood Donor Day, an online discussion titled ‘Be kind to help the needy: Donate blood & keep the world beating’ on the platform, Zoom, in Khasi and English will be organised on Friday at 4 pm to educate and motivate youths to donate blood and raise awareness on the need for safe blood and blood products. The programme is being organised by Meghalaya Scout Guide Fellowship, which is affiliated with Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides, along with the Meghalaya Aids Control Society, Shillong, and State Blood Transfusion Council, Meghalaya. Panellists include Dr Hughbert Dkhar, Nazareth Hospital, and Dr Barilin Passah, MD, IHBT, Regional Blood Bank Pasteur Institute, DHS (Research). Public have also been invited to join the programme which will be broadcast live on the Facebook page of Meghalaya Bharat Scouts and Guides.
