EKH farmers’ markets set to open indefinitely

SHILLONG, June 22: In another signal hinting towards a bettering scenario for farmers in East Khasi Hills, identified trading points and farmers’ markets across the district have been provided a 12-hour daily window to open indefinitely starting Wednesday until further orders by Deputy Commissioner Isawanda Laloo.
These trading points and farmers’ markets include Anjalee Parking lot here, Urkaliar Sankhamti Parking Lot, Demsieniong, Farmer’s Market at 5th Mile, Upper Shillong, Farmer’s Market at Umdiengpun, 7th Mile, Shiliangum-Lawei Farmer’s Market, Lad Smit, Umphyrnai, and Mawiong Regulated Market.
In an order, the DC said that the identified markets and trading points will open from Monday to Saturday between 4 am to 4 pm. “The terms and conditions as notified earlier shall remain unchanged,” the DC said.
