Mawsikar villagers protest against Assam officials’ visit

NONGSTOIN, June 26: Locals from Mawsikar villagers on Friday protested after government officials from Assam visited the village, located on the Assam-Meghalaya border, reportedly for proposed land inspection.
The locals alleged that the Assam Government wants to set up a forest camp and a water supply at Mawsikar area.
The officials from Assam visited Mawsikar and Kyrdum villages but were forced to leave after the villagers protested.
The villagers also informed that after leaving Mawsikar village, those officials later attended a programme held at Langpih village.
