‘Unknown’ and Arcious: During the reign of King David, there was an enormous creature, known as ‘Unknown’. It was supposedly evil as it destroyed lives and property wherever it went, and so the king slew him. He took the help of Arcious and locked ‘Unknown’ in a Persian oil lamp and asked Arcious to lock himself in a pot and take care it should harm no one. It is said that David transferred both the Persian lamps to a faraway world where no one could go.

The story begins a disturbingly short time ago, in a land uncomfortably close by a town covered with fields. The weather here was cold.

Everyone was working in the fields except for a youthful figure, a boy at the cusp of adolescence. His clothes were covered with sand; in his left hand, he held a badminton racquet and his right hand was swinging freely. He was joyful until there came a sound.

“Come back, David! Drink your milk first and then go to play.” It was his mother’s voice.

His expression suddenly changed as he decided to listen to her. When he came out again, his happiness was back. After all, he was going to play badminton.

Note: The people believed his face was like King David.

A long time ago in a small town of Denmark’s capital city Copenhagen there lived a small boy named David with his mother. He was 11 years old and his mother worked on the farm the entire day to fulfil the basic needs. David was five years old when his father passed away fighting the Germans. He always spent a long time helping his mother in the field. In the evening, he played badminton with his friends.

One scorching afternoon, David and his mother came home earlier from the fields. David was about to play his favourite game. While he was about to pick up the equipment, there came a person with a long beard and knocked on the door. He seemed to be a vendor on his way to sell something. David’s mother opened the door and asked what he wanted.

The vendor replied, “I have come from a small country in Africa to sell this shuttle but no one bought it as it looks ancient. If you could buy it, then I would get enough money to go back to my place. It just costs 5 gold coins.”

Upon hearing this, David agreed with the vendor and requested his mother to buy it as he had no shuttle to play with, but his mother said that it was too expensive. The vendor replied it was a magical shuttle, adding that it would change his life. David’s mother agreed and gave 5 gold coins to the vendor. The same day, David took that shuttle to play. Unlike most days, his mother was his playmate. When David shot for the first time, it converted into a silver shuttle and when his mother repeated the action; it turned into a golden shuttle. This went on as it converted into many expensive metals.

Their surprise and excitement could no longer be contained. In the sixteenth short, when David touched the shuttle with his racquet, there appeared a golden door in front of them. It amazed both David and his mother. Curious, they slowly opened the door and walked inside when it suddenly vanished. Stuck and terrified, both of them now wanted to go back home, but were unable to locate the way out. Tired and hungry, they needed to find someone, but none came to their rescue. At last, they found an old Persian oil lamp.

Hoping that it would contain water, David rubbed off the sand from the lamp; instead, there appeared a cluster of clouds. A genie came outside from the lamp and asked the duo to ask for three wishes, which would be granted.

David’s mother asked the genie to give them wealth that would never end. This was the first wish. She then asked for water and food. When she was about to ask for the last wish, it was David who uttered, “Please take us back to our home”.

The genie took both of them back home.

David and his mother no longer worked in the fields and lived in a vast mansion; they had all the luxurious items in the world. They kept the magical shuttle with them but never played with it as they believed it to be dangerous. Rather, they kept it as a showpiece – as it looked expensive, covered in pearls and diamonds.

One day, while David’s mother was out with her friends, David thought of a plan and carefully got hold of the magical shuttle to play with it.

In the first short, the same golden door opened, and David went inside. He found that the old lamp was still there. He proceeded to rub it, but this time the genie granted him only one wish.

Perhaps, feeling a sense of foreboding, David asked if he could go back home; only this time, the genie opened three doors in front of him and told him, “Choose one of the three doors. Remember, there is only one door to go back home. If you choose the wrong one, you will serve me forever. If you choose the correct one you will find yourself in front of the door of your house. If you choose the last door, you will face many difficulties and not reach home.”

Saying this, the genie disappeared.

David waited for some time and went in the third door but unfortunately, it was the door that the genie said was more dangerous. He went back, but the door had already vanished. Determined, he lingered for a while until he came near two vessels that were tightly sealed. He carefully opened the first vessel and there appeared an enormous being that looked evil with black hands and feet. It called itself ‘Unknown’.

It said, “I am here for the past 300 years. King David had thrown me here and since then, I have been waiting. You look exactly like the king. Now I will take revenge and kill you.”

The young boy became frightened and opened the lid of the second vessel. Out of it, appeared another gigantic creature, who was none other than ‘Arcious’. This one said, “I will protect you from this evil. So, move aside.”

A fight ensued. At first, both creatures fought with their hands, but there was no conclusion. They now fought with magical powers and soon ‘Unknown’ was on the losing side. It was short-lived when the evil being used his most powerful attack intending to slay ‘Arcious’. The good one was not weak and threw a spark of thunder on ‘Unknown’, who faced defeat again.

The genie re-appeared and said, “David, since you entered the wrong door, you cannot go back home.”

Using the combined powers of himself and ‘Unknown’, Arcious and David escaped. Since then, they became the master of the universe and live in their own world.
