SHILLONG, June 27: The Indian Meteorological Department, Shillong, on Sunday said that rainfall activity over the state is likely to increase during the next 4-5 days.
“Under the influence of strong moist south-westerly winds, fairly widespread to widespread rainfall is very likely over Meghalaya during next 4-5 days. Meghalaya is very likely to receive isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall during June 27 to July 1 with isolated extremely heavy rainfall on June 28-30,” the IMD said in a statement.
“Heavy to very heavy rains (7 to 20 cm) are expected in Jaintia Hills, East Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills and East Garo Hills; moderate to heavy rains in other parts of state. Southern parts of East Khasi Hills such as areas of Sohra, Mawsynram and adjoining areas are expected to get extremely heavy rainfall (more than 20cm),” the IMD Shillong said.
