Heavy rains cause damage across state

SHILLONG, July 6: As many as 1,607 houses were damaged and 343 villages across Meghalaya were affected due to heavy rainfall and floods, according to an official report.
All districts have been affected as per the report.
The report revealed that 581 houses were fully damaged, while 821 and 205 were partially damaged and severely damaged respectively.
It further said that 7,407 people were hit by the inclement weather, even as one person lost his live, five were reported missing and eight injured. The report also said that infrastructures which were damaged include National Highway-127B, Darokgre Flow Irrigation Project, a wooden bridge, 2.15-kilometre-long Mawkohphet road, 12th Mile TD road to Chokpot, Chokpot Siju road, and Chokpot Sibbari road.
Furthermore, other projects which were affected include the Rongru Asim Water Supply & Sanitation (WSS), improvement of Siju WSS, Siju Duramong, Allokpang Nakalgr WSS, Mindikge WSS, reconstruction of Balkal Asim WSS, Nengkong Songmong WSS, Rongra WSS, Ruga Apalgittim WSS, Sempara WSS, evised New Dobogre WSS, Allagre Songgital Combined WSS, Damet Bugakol WSS, Dedangre WSS, & Baghmara WSS and Gamberge ICDS Centre.
Even schools and aganwandi centres were affected.
