COVID-hit locals get monetary aid
SHILLONG, July 16: Financial assistance has been rendered to as many as 450 beneficiaries from South Shillong Constituency by MLA Sanbor Shullai in collaboration with Dorbar Shnong, village council, welfare societies and CCMTs of the constituency. According to a statement on Friday, people from the areas of Upper Lumparing, Lumsohpoh, Lumdorbar, New Colony, Mynsian, Kynjat Phutbol and Riat Laban received Rs 2,000 each. “The MLA provided financial assistance to the vulnerable including taxi driver, teer counter employees, physically handicapped, daily wage employees working in various shops affected by the pandemic, domestic workers and hawkers. The financial assistance is provided as a relief to the BPL families,” the statement said. It was also informed that the financial succour will be provided to 11 more localities.

Blood donation camp in city
SHILLONG, July 16: The Rotary Club Shillong Heritage organised a blood donation project at the Nazareth Hospital Shillong during which over 50 people — members, children and friends — came forward and donated blood. A statement in this regard informed that this was the third blood donation camp organised by the Club. “On this occasion, the Club also felicitated the COVID warriors of the hospital,” it said. During the programme, the speakers highlighted the importance of blood donation.
