TURA, Aug 3: The GSU has moved the Executive Engineer of Urban Affairs in Tura, alleging unscientific and unhygienic dumping of waste by the Tura Municipal Board (TMB) at its dumping ground at Rongkhon Songgital.
The union, in their fresh complaint, said that the haphazard dumping at the site has resulted in waste spilling over to a Christian cemetery below and covering several graves, which has angered the family members of the deceased.
Earlier, the same issue was raised with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma.
The Union also suggested that a wall to be constructed immediately so that the waste does not spill over.
