Fresh cases down to 187, 11 fatalities in state

SHILLONG, Aug 9: As has been the trend for several months now, the COVID-19 cases in Meghalaya came down drastically on Monday with 187 fresh infections being reported in the last 24 hours, while 479 patients recovered in the same period.
However, 11 people succumbed to COVID-19, taking the death toll to 1,174.
Five fatalities were reported from East Khasi Hills, two each from Ri Bhoi and West Khasi Hills and one each from South Garo Hills and East Jaintia Hills.
The total recoveries stand at 63,450 while the active tally has come down to 4,734.
95 fresh cases were reported in East Khasi Hills, 28 in West Jaintia Hills, 21 in West Garo Hills, 19 in West Khasi Hills, 13 in Ri Bhoi, three each in East Jaintia Hills and South West Garo Hills, two each in East Garo Hills and North Garo Hills and one in South West Khasi Hills.
