MLA for upgrade of sub-centre
NONGSTOIN, Aug 30: Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat has urged Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong to expedite the upgrade of Nongkynjang Sub-centre into a full-fledged primary health centre (PHC). Byrsat maintained that that since inception, Nongkynjang Sub-centre has been intensively catering to more than 30 villages in the area. Since then, the population in these areas has increased rapidly, he said. The MLA also claimed that the proposal for upgrade of the sub-centre was approved by the government but is yet to be sanctioned owing to the unavailability of land. The Health department is yet to take over the land where the sub-centre was constructed and hence, upgrade of Nongkynjang Sub-centre into a PHC could not be taken up, he added. However, land donors have again donated the remaining portion of the land close to the sub-centre with hopes that these chunks of land will be utilised to upgrade the sub-centre.
