SHILLONG, Sep 5: With teachers and students losing out on a substantial portion of the academic session due to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state government despite hinting at it earlier seems to be in no mood to reduce the course curriculum for secondary and higher secondary levels.
A source from the Education department said that the government will not cut down the syllabus but rather extend the academic session till March 2022.
In 2020, the Education department had announced a 30% cut in the syllabus to assist the students in coping up with the curriculum after losing several months due to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.
In neighbouring Assam, the government has decided to reduce the course curriculum of each and every subject approximately by 40% for the convenience of students of classes IX and X for the academic session 2021-22.
