SHILLONG, Sep 9: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has assured a delegation from Mawsynram to examine the demand of creating of a civil subdivision, Mawsynram MLA HM Shangpliang said after meeting the chief minister on Thursday.
The local MLA was invited by a conglomeration of groups from the area to call on the chief minister and hold talks on the upgrade of Mawsynram into a civil subdivision.
Speaking to media persons after the meeting, Shangpliang said that the CM was positive in his approach and has assured to examine the demands albeit similar demands have been made from other areas of the state as well.
Shangpliang explained that the government would not have to spend on creating a civil subdivision in Mawsynram since many infrastructures like the SDO’s office of PHE, MSEB, Brahmaputra Board, Central Water Commission, etc., have already been constituted.
He added that the headman of Mawsynram, who was a part of the delegation which met the CM, has assured to donate a land for the construction of the civil subdivision complex.
