TURA, Sep 12: The Raksamgre Sub-Division Welfare Committee has appealed that areas under the Sub-Division be excluded from the proposed Dadenggre district — a demand which is being spearheaded by the Dadenggre District Demand Committee and, most recently, allegedly by the NPP Dadenggre Block Committee.
In their appeal to the NPP Block Committee and the District Demand Committee from the area, the Raksamgre Sub-Division Welfare Committee, while extending full support towards the movement, urged that areas falling under the jurisdiction of Raksamgre Sub-Division be excluded given that Tura, headquarters of West Garo Hills,  is closer and easily accessible to them than Dadenggre.
“We are in full support of their demand and wish that a separate district for Dadenggre is achieved soon. However, we would like to remain under West Garo Hills district for now,” it said, requesting that their area is excluded from the demand.
It may be mentioned that the Raksamgre Sub-Division Welfare Committee comprises a number of organisations from the region including GSU, FKJGP, ASWA, AYC, GSMC, AIGU, AHAM besides Nokmas, Gaonburas, church leaders and prominent citizens.
