HANM for 80 pc job reservation in pvt sector for local youths
SHILLONG, Sep 30: The Hynniewtrep Achik National Movement (HANM) has demanded of state government to ensure 80 per cent job reservation for local youths in the private sector. “The Deputy Chief Minister has assured us that maybe within six months they will be able to make this particular law so that the deserving students, if they are not qualified for a government job, at least will get an appointment in any particular private institute,” said HANM assistant general secretary, Wyraiwan Sohtun, after meeting Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday. The HANM has demanded the state government to enact laws to suit their demand. Sohtun said that an inspection in different private sector institutions has revealed that the employment percentage of locals is not even 20%. Replying to a query on their stand in regards to investors from outside the state, the HANM leader said, “Time and again we have asserted that we welcome each and every investment from mainland India or any foreign direct investment”. “In fact HANM is ready to help any company which wants to invest in the state provided they help our people to get jobs,” he added. “Let us make a win-win situation where you make a profit, we get a job. We are satisfied,” he said.
